Fall 2020 — On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month…

To observe Veterans Day, the library displayed books and films about the armistice that brought World War I to an end. Although November 11th became known as Veterans Day in 1954, it was originally called Armistice Day. Featured books included 11th Month, 11th Day, 11th Hour by Joseph E. Perrico, Cataclysm by David Stevenson, Fighting the Great War by Michael Neiberg, The Greatest Day in History by Nicholas Best, The Illusion of Victory by Thomas Fleming, My Fellow Soldiers by Andrew Carroll, Over There by Byron Farwell, Savage Peace by Ann Hagedorn, Sites of Memory, Sites of Mourning by Jay Winter, World War I and America by A. Scott Berg, and Wounded by E. R. Mayhew. Among our films on display were 1917, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Century of Warfare, The First World War, Gallipoli, Joyeux Noel, The Millionaires Unit, Sergeant York, They Shall Not Grow Old, and The War Horse.
