This past winter, in late 2018-2019, the library completed a display of the donation of a new piece of beautiful furniture which was combined with a previous donation of a collection of recent first editions.
Each donation was given by long term alumni families that have been generous friends of the monastery and school. The elegant old original Irish breakfront now contains a collection of 41 books, all first editions of predominately Irish and English authors. There are also multiple works of the American playwright Eugene O’ Neill. Other multiple works are by the authors John Banville, Seamus Heaney, Graham Greene and T.S. Eliot. Also included are writing by the female authors Margaret Atwood, A. S. Byatt, Anita Brooker and Penelope Fitzgerald. (R.S.)
