The Great Hurricane of 1938 hit Portsmouth on September 21st. To mark the 80th anniversary of the hurricane, the library displayed newspaper articles published in the days after landfall as well as books written by local authors, faculty, and alumni. A map from Weather Underground was also featured; it showed the storm’s track and intensity as it moved from the coast of Africa to the shores of Rhode Island. (MFV)
